The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has continued to push for better working conditions and benefits for all workers in the country. In order to call off the proposed strike, NLC has listed all its demands and is calling on the government to take action.

The demands laid out by NLC include a call for the implementation of the new national minimum wage, which was signed into law in April 2019. The new minimum wage is set at N30,000, but many states and private organizations have yet to implement this increase. NLC is demanding that all workers receive this new minimum wage without exception.

Additionally, NLC is advocating for improved working conditions and benefits for workers. This includes advocating for better healthcare benefits, improved pension plans, and increased job security for all workers. NLC is also calling for the government to address the rising unemployment rate in the country and create new job opportunities for its citizens.

Furthermore, NLC is demanding an end to all forms of casualization and contract staffing in both the private and public sectors. They believe that these practices lead to exploitation and instability for workers, and are calling for an end to these practices to ensure the security and well-being of all workers.

NLC has also been vocal about the need for the government to address the rising cost of living and provide relief for workers and their families. They are calling for the implementation of measures to reduce the cost of food, housing, and transportation in order to alleviate the financial burden on workers.

In addition to these demands, NLC is also calling for the government to address issues such as insecurity, corruption, and the state of the economy, which they believe directly impact the well-being of workers.

The NLC has made it clear that they are prepared to go on strike if their demands are not met. They have already issued a 14-day ultimatum to the government to take action on their demands, and have warned that they will not hesitate to mobilize workers across the country to strike if necessary.

The NLC has stressed the importance of addressing these demands in order to ensure the well-being and prosperity of all Nigerian workers. They believe that the government has a responsibility to prioritize the needs of its citizens and is calling on them to take action to address the concerns of workers. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to these demands, but the NLC has made it clear that they are prepared to take action to ensure that the rights of workers are protected.
