Recruitment of one (01) Project Officer

Based in Dungu, DRC, the Project Officer will provide daily administrative support to the Country Director, as well as communications support with internal and external stakeholders (including partners in South Sudan). . Implementation of project activities in the field and reporting of activities to the Country Director.

The Project Officer will travel to communities (12 communities) in the Haut Uele and Bas Uele provinces of the DRC during the project, to implement memorialization and transitional justice activities with local CSOs, and will play an essential role in managing the expectations of beneficiaries and external stakeholders.

MAIN TASKS

Provide the Country Director with administrative, logistical and daily management support for Project activities

Support the Country Director in establishing and maintaining relationships with local partner organizations and administration in Bomoko project communities

Be the point of contact, with the Country Director, to collect feedback from local partners and support their capacity building, in a participatory approach within all programs

Field missions: Support logistical preparation and lead visits to 12 communities in the Haut and Bas Uélé provinces in the DRC, with partner staff to implement transitional justice activities with local peace committees. Activities include:

  1. Training on human rights
  2. Community dialogues relating to potentially traumatic past events
  3. Collaborative implementation of commemoration structures and methods within each community, and training on community management of these commemorations

Support the coordination of activities in each community, including communicating clearly to community members and authorities

Provide support to the progress of the South Sudan partner, in collaboration with the Country Director

Support data collection activities for Monitoring and Evaluation purposes, in collaboration with technical colleagues and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Write comprehensive field reports illustrating activities during field missions, including the necessary quantitative data as well as qualitative information to contribute to learning and improvement of the project, transmit necessary data to the Country Director in order to enable drafting reports to donors.

Support the drafting of reports on project performance for donors, including the challenges encountered and the results beneficial to the project

Monitor potential risks and challenges and report them to the Country Director to mitigate their likelihood/impact

Support the creation of commemorative audio and video content, fostering an environment of consent and trust

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES DESIRED (REQUIRED):

Communication skills and integrity:

  1. Model the highest standards of integrity and communication, both internally with IC teams and externally with local and regional stakeholders and partners
  2. Ability to coordinate group discussions alongside a psychologist on sensitive topics regarding past traumatic events
  3. Ability to work alongside local partner organizations, supporting them in their capacity building and helping to internalize their feedback

Program management skills: At least 3 years of experience implementing social cohesion, transitional justice and/or community stabilization programs

Ability to organize and coordinate community awareness campaigns around the themes of non-violence, peacebuilding, human rights, peaceful cohabitation, etc.

Have a university degree in social sciences, management, development or a related field

Management: Experience in managing and supporting local and regional partners to ensure their engagement and participation

Experience working in challenging environments

Good organizational, writing and synthesis skills

Experience working with monitoring frameworks and reporting

Experience managing budgets, logistics, supply chain and human resources, and working with relevant departments

Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of English and other local languages ​​of the region, including Pazande

Motorcycle driving license

Experience in managing/delivering community dialogues on trauma-informed commemoration of the past

Experience in advocacy efforts and comfort in dialogue, negotiation, diplomacy and persuasion

Ability to work in a team, under pressure and very dynamic

Knowledge of the context of the region in terms of types of conflicts

Experience working with small, local organizations

Very good ability to adapt
