A group of Russians kills a Nigerian professor, because of the color of his skin

A Nigerian English teacher, Aliyu Tijani, has died after being brutally attacked by racists in Russia.

After the racist attack in Russia, Aliyu Tijani was thrown into a coma before the Good Samaritans rushed to her aid. He was taken to National Hospital for treatment, he later died. His cousin took to social media to start a movement seeking justice for Aliyu Tijani, who was assaulted in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Russia.

Abike Dabiri, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, has been called upon to help bring justice to the deceased. Racism in Russia appears mainly in the form of negative attitudes and actions of some Russians towards people who are not of Russian origin.

Over the years, human rights organizations have reported numerous racist attacks. Last year, 177 acts of violence directed against black people had been reported since 2008. According to Sova, Africans are the third largest ethnic group to be targeted by racists in Russia.
