A poisoned drink kills people in Abidjan




Some six people died in Abatta, in the commune of Cocody, after consuming a local alcoholic drink, announced Vincent Toh Bi, the prefect of the district of Abidjan.

On the Prefect’s Facebook account, he pointed out that the security forces noted the death of one individual on June 30, three people on June 1er July and two other people Tuesday, July 2; specifying that these people “died of the same symptoms”.

“All these people would have consumed alcohol,” said Mr. Toh Bi, ensuring that the health services took samples for analysis to determine the reasons for these deaths in the same area.

The prefect being on the scene informed that this situation concerns for the moment only the village of Abatta, informing that all the drinking places in the village have been closed.

“In case of diarrhoea, abdominal pain, vomiting, respiratory problems and convulsions, you are requested to go immediately to the nearest health center or to take your relatives there who present these symptoms”, a- he added.
