Within an office building, employees have access to recreational activities such as golf or soccer. American executives are ingenious in motivating their employees to come to work every morning.
In a video posted on social media, an accountant from a real estate management company appears to be in a small rural village, where you can almost hear the birds singing. In reality, it is the headquarters of her company, consisting of individual houses transformed into offices.
However, this situation is less amusing in the United States because it poses a real problem: after successfully experimenting with remote work during the Covid-19 pandemic, 60% of employees have never returned to their physical workplace and have little desire to do so.
Three out of ten Americans would even consider resigning if this option were taken away from them.
As a result, American business districts are gradually losing their vibrancy, with shops closing due to lack of customers during lunch breaks, and signs advertising available spaces popping up everywhere without finding tenants for several consecutive months.
Faced with this alarming situation and considering the current surplus of commercial spaces while there is a glaring shortage of housing in cities like Washington D.C., these abandoned buildings are being gradually converted into apartments to provide new housing options for the population. The 163 future apartments are expected to find occupants easily.
