Description of the organization

Since May 2011, the AMCP-SP (Medical Alliance Against Malaria-Santé Population), a Malian NGO whose objective is to “improve accessibility to health care in general and malaria in particular by implementing implementation of appropriate strategies”, and its partner, ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action), an international NGO, whose objective is to produce medical relief during emergencies or medical disasters, but also to participate in the reduction of the divide between the means of modern medicine and the accessibility to this medicine for part of the world’s population, have joined forces to jointly take charge of a malnutrition prevention and management program and malaria in Mali.

This collaboration is part of the takeover of a Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium project in the circle of Kangaba, in the south-east of the country. ALIMA and the AMCP-SP are combining their strengths, their experience and their skills in this initiative in order to carry out this project and fight together against infant mortality. The main objective is to reduce the mortality of children under 5 and pregnant women linked to malaria, malnutrition and febrile illnesses.

In May 2012, the AMCP-SP/ALIMA opened a medical care program in northern Mali – Timbuktu Region, in the Goundam Districts – in order to ensure continuity and free care for population care.

Today, the AMCP-SP/ALIMA is present in 1 district of the Ségou region, 1 of the Timbuktu region and 1 in the Bamako region (Commune 1).

Presentation of the position

Under the hierarchical and functional supervision respectively of the attending physician and the project logistics manager, the EHA logistics assistant is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of logistics and hygiene activities at the CSREF level;

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Ensure the supply of URENI cleaning products
  • Ensure the sanitation of URENI and affiliated structures;
  • Ensure the maintenance and hygiene of structures;
  • Monitor product consumption;
  • Ensure the monitoring and maintenance of project materials and equipment;
  • Inform accompanying persons about the organization of URENI;
  • Ensure storage, packaging and inventory management (logistics equipment, stationery and cleaning products), and provide technical support to medical teams
  • Ensure the implementation of waste water disposal and treatment systems according to their nature (washing water, kitchen water, toilet water, shower water, etc.),
  • Ensures the maintenance of the various waste water disposal and treatment systems;
  • ensures that the collection and sorting of waste is correctly carried out, by structure or by service,
  • Ensures proper compliance with protocols for the treatment and disposal of waste according to their nature (sharp/sharp, organic waste, “soft” waste).
  • He/She is responsible for the URENI stock and ensures that EHA items are stored and classified in an orderly manner according to internal stock management procedures;
  • Implement support activities (communication, electricity, transport), as well as other logistical activities necessary to achieve medical objectives (construction/rehabilitation, water/hygiene/sanitary, etc.)
  • Assess the needs of EHA orders based on the material in stock;
  • Participate in receiving EHA orders. Verifies that the quantities received and issued correspond to the quantities mentioned on the consumption monitoring book or the request form and ensure the proper delivery of the equipment;
  • Carry out the monthly inventory of its stock, in order to control its consumption and make its order forecast;
  • Send his monthly stock report to his supervisor and report any anomalies;
  • Carry out a monthly physical inventory of equipment, notifying his superior in the event of loss, theft, or replacement,
  • Ensure proper use of equipment.
  • Write, according to the frequencies established in the mission, the activity reports, and ensure that the statistical data are regularly updated
  • Ensure proper use of equipment.

Required Skills

  • Hold a Diploma in a technical field related to logistics
  • Versatile experience in logistics, minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Having at least 1 year of experience in the field of humanitarian aid within an international NGO working in the management of malnutrition would be an asset
  • Good organization, and able to assess priorities
  • Demonstrate proactivity and initiative to anticipate and resolve potential problems
  • Good communication and team management skills
  • Possess technical assets in the following areas: Wash, electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, IT would be an advantage
  • Be collaborative, able to work under pressure and in a tense security environment
  • Knowledge of the field would be an asset
  • Have good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Be available immediately, and free of any commitment.
