Several dead in an accident involving an INFAS vehicle
A tragic road accident that occurred yesterday caused the death of several people, including two students from the National Institute for the Training of Health Workers (INFAS). The accident happened around 9 a.m. on the main road linking the capital to the neighboring town.
According to the first information gathered on the spot, the INFAS vehicle, which was transporting about twenty students to their place of internship, lost control and violently hit a tree on the side of the road. The shocking images show the vehicle completely destroyed, which made the rescue work particularly difficult.
Unfortunately, two students lost their lives instantly, while several others were seriously injured. They were immediately transported to the nearest hospital to receive the necessary treatment. Local health authorities said some were in critical condition, causing great concern among loved ones and the student community.
The accident quickly caught the attention of local and national media, which highlighted the recurring problem of road accidents in Côte d’Ivoire. According to official statistics, the country records a large number of road deaths every year, mainly due to speeding, faulty vehicles and poor driving.
Yesterday’s tragic accident is also a reminder of the importance of the safety of vehicles used to transport students and passengers in general. The authorities concerned must ensure that the vehicles made available to public and private institutions are regularly inspected and maintained to guarantee the safety of passengers.
In such moments of mourning, it is important for the student community to support each other. INFAS authorities have taken steps to provide psychological support to students who witnessed or were directly affected by this tragic accident. It is essential that solidarity and empathy be at the heart of the response to such tragedies.
Yesterday’s accident is a sad and painful reminder of the reality of the dangers of the road in Côte d’Ivoire. It is imperative that the authorities strengthen road safety measures and raise public awareness of the risks associated with irresponsible driving. It is also necessary to make significant improvements to the road network in order to reduce the risk of accidents.
In the meantime, our thoughts are with the victims of this tragic accident and their families. It is essential that we, as a society, learn from these incidents and work together to prevent such accidents in the future, so that more students do not lose their lives on the country’s roads.
