American singer Bebe Rexha abruptly left the stage during a concert in New York on Sunday after being struck in the face by a phone thrown by a spectator.
Rolling Stone reports that the 33-year-old artist was taken to the hospital, where she received stitches, and a 27-year-old man was taken into custody.
On Monday, the singer posted a photo of her face, with her left eye swollen. Despite the incident, she smiles at the camera and gives a thumbs-up to signal that she’s okay. She captioned the photo, “I’m good,” referring to her hit collaboration with David Guetta, “I’m Good (Blue).”
A video of the incident is circulating on social media, showing Bebe Rexha performing a song when the projectile hits her face. She kneels to the ground while team members come to her aid.
The 27-year-old man, a resident of New Jersey, has been indicted and charged with assault. According to the Manhattan District Attorney, he admitted to the act and stated, “I wanted to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the concert because it would be funny.”
