Bill Gates Admits He Was Very Lazy In School

With a fortune estimated at $115.2 billion by Forbes, Bill Gates is the fourth richest person in the world. He owes his wealth in particular to the Microsoft company which he co-founded in 1975 with Paul Allen. But even with such success, Bill Gates’ story was less glorious in school. In a recently published podcast, the billionaire returned to this troubled period and reveals another side of him.

The sloth who wanted to be cool

Bill Gates left Harvard University to launch Microsoft more calmly and it’s no secret. However, the public was less informed about its relationship with the school. In the second episode of his Unconfuse Me podcast on Spotify, the 67-year-old billionaire therefore looks back on this era with rather unexpected anecdotes.

Indeed, Bill Gates states that he was very lazy in mathematics. And when one of his teachers wanted to understand why his level was so low, he reportedly replied, “But we don’t do anything interesting”. “I kind of had this opinion that the less you try, the cooler you are. he added.

In the rest of the podcast, we understand that only the beginnings were difficult for Bill Gates. He confirms, for example, that he was accompanied by a teacher who gave him books in order to improve. His departure from university therefore has nothing to do with laziness, but the billionaire did not want to miss the computer revolution as he confided a few years ago.

On the other hand, Bill Gates has always urged students to complete their college course. Currently, the founder of Microsoft is also very confident in artificial intelligence which, according to him, could help students in their learning. Additionally, AI was the subject of this tell-all podcast during which he chatted with the originator of Khan Academy; an online non-profit education platform.
