On social media, activist and saxophonist María Elena Ríos has accused the actor who played Namor in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ Tenoch Huerta, of being a ‘sexual predator.’ However, Huerta vehemently denies the allegations. María Elena Ríos has accused the 42-year-old Mexican actor of sexual assault. On Saturday, June 12th, she claimed that Huerta, who recently portrayed Namor, had assaulted her.
‘It is very difficult to speak about the emotional abuse and abuse of power by a sexual predator who is loved worldwide for playing a character in a film like Tenoch Huerta,’ she wrote on social media. When asked by a user if the actor had sexually assaulted her, she responded affirmatively and added that she was not the only victim, stating that he had targeted ‘many women.’ She also claimed that the collective Poder Prieti, which includes Latinx artists, had covered up the incidents. In a statement shared by Tenoch Huerta on Monday, he declared the accusation to be ‘false and completely unfounded.’
‘Around a year ago, I was in a relationship with Elena for several months. It was a consensual relationship in every way, as countless people can attest to. Throughout that relationship, there was love, warmth, and mutual support. However, after our breakup, Elena began distorting our private interactions and sharing them with mutual friends. As a result, a few months ago, I engaged a legal team to take the appropriate actions to protect my reputation and refute these irresponsible and false accusations that can cause great harm and damage.’
‘While I am not perfect, I know these allegations are simply false. And although I will always strive to improve, I must challenge allegations that are both false and offensive.’ The future of Tenoch Huerta in the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains uncertain, but it has been suggested at the end of ‘Wakanda Forever’ that his character, Namor, will make a return.
