Brigitte Bardot has been fighting for the welfare of animals for years. While she receives immense support from her fans, she also finds herself in difficult situations.
In the documentary “Brigitte Bardot: The Rebel,” aired on Canal+ Docs on June 19, she recounts instances where she has garnered opposition. “The first time I appeared on a TV show and declared that I no longer eat horse meat, there was a whole committee of horse butchers waiting for me, wearing blood-stained aprons and brandishing large knives. They told my guard, ‘When she arrives, tell your boss that we’re waiting for her with knives. We’ll explain what we think of what she said,'” she recalled.
In an interview from 2006, featured in this documentary directed by Mireille Dumas, Brigitte Bardot also reflects on the animosity she faced from the hunting community. “They threatened me with death. I even questioned whether I should continue this fight… and I did,” she concluded. Nothing will make her give up.
