Meta continues the updates for its WhatsApp application by making it more complete. After having recently developed a multitude of features for groups and communities, a new option has just made its debut. These include the ability to create a group without providing a name.

Since the beginnings of WhatsApp, it has been necessary to indicate a group name during the process of creating these chat platforms. On the other hand, the new functionality wants to save users from this step. It will therefore be possible to create a quick group without specifying a name. However, these new group types differ from traditional groups in form.

We note for example that fast groups without name can only integrate 6 members while classic groups support up to 1024 participants. And for display in the discussion list, the name will depend on each participant. Indeed, the title of the group will take into account the contact files saved in each directory. But when a participant’s contact is not saved, only the number will be displayed. The peculiarities of this feature therefore indicate that it will be more suitable for brief discussions between very close people.

In addition, the availability of the option was announced a few hours ago on Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg’s Instagram channel. We therefore imagine that the global deployment will take time and that the restricted groups will be accessible to all users in a few weeks.

Groups of 6 people are thus added to the plethora of features deployed on WhatsApp in recent months. The most recent ones include sending HD photos, screen sharing during video calls and sending short videos. It should also be noted that various features should land in the coming weeks. We are thinking in particular of the editing and text formatting options, HD videos or even AI stickers which are currently in beta mode.
