Emmanuel-Philibert de Savoy has revealed to “Corriere Torino” his desire to abdicate, allowing his 19-year-old daughter, Victoria, to take his place. “I am confident she will do better than me. It was my father who made this decision, which I find to be very just and modern,” he explained.
However, the prince clarified an important point in an interview with “Gala”: “The press has put the cart before the horse. What I meant to say is that when the time comes, perhaps in ten or fifteen years, I will hand over the management of the House of Savoy to my eldest daughter.”
As a reminder, the Italian royal family was able to return to the peninsula in 2002 when the exile law came to an end. While the country is now a republic, Victor Emmanuel of Savoy, Prince of Naples and Duke of Savoy, remains the claimant to the throne of Italy, with his son and granddaughter as the heirs.
