In a recent court ruling in Germany, a retired man with a criminal record of 24 convictions was given a last opportunity. He resorted to selling marijuana, as his meager 800 euro pension was not enough to make ends meet. Despite being in probation for another offense, the 82-year-old man faced severe prosecution due to multiple instances of dealing marijuana, even though the quantity sold was only a few dozen grams. The prosecutor sought a sentence of two years and ten months of imprisonment.
However, the District Court of Aurich in Germany showed leniency towards the former sailor, who had confessed to his actions. The court acknowledged his unique circumstances and considered the difficulties he faced. Consequently, the judge imposed a suspended two-year sentence on him. Nevertheless, the court emphasized, “This is the final warning.”
