Gernot Rohr Explains Why Nigeria Lost To Madagascar

[ad_1]

For their first participation in an African Cup of Nations, Madagascar continues to create surprises in its pool.

The Madagascans won 2-0 against the Super Eagles and are in first place in Pool B with 7 points.

This well-deserved victory is not a surprise for Gernot Rohr who says that the performance of the Malagasy was remarkable. The Nigerian trainer said his colts did not perform as he hoped.

“We lost against a good team because Madagascar was the first to qualify for the tournament and there is no shame in losing against such a team. Madagascar was the better team today. We started by giving them a gift and after that we couldn’t find a solution. We made five changes because we wanted to give some players a rest and also preserve those with cards. Sometimes it happens when you are already qualified; the players are relaxed and play without pressure”Rohr told the Egyptian press after the match.
