There are many cross-cutting themes (gender, file management, staff well-being, support for arriving families) to which GIZ pays particular attention in the implementation of its projects as well as in internal organisation.
In order to ensure a more effective treatment of these themes, the GIZ national office in Mali is launching this recruitment notice for: A National Expert for cross-cutting themes
Job location: Bamako
Nature of the contract: CDD of two (02) years, part-time (50%)
Classification: Band 4
Responsibilities
The position “National expert for cross-cutting themes” at the GIZ Mali office includes the following responsibilities:
Ensure the function of focal point for the support of accompanying partners (“MAP”);
Provide support to the gender, staff well-being and records management focal points for the implementation of the actions planned in relation to these themes.
Tasks
As a “accompanying partner” focal point, the incumbent will carry out the following tasks:
Individually advise expatriate and regional employees and their accompanying partners before their departure and upon their arrival in the country;
Networking with other institutions and countries on best practices regarding support to accompanying partners;
Prepare and develop specific information material for accompanying partners;
Networking with other GIZ “accompanying partner” focal points in other countries;
Organize exchanges of information and training for accompanying partners.
As an expert for cross-cutting themes (gender, records management, staff well-being), the incumbent will carry out the following tasks:
Support GIZ Mali project focal points in integrating cross-cutting issues into their planning and management processes (offer – monitoring – reporting);
Coordinate cross-functional inter-project working groups at the national level (gender, well-being, file management);
As needed, ensure communication on cross-cutting themes with the headquarters in Germany;
Develop and implement a “wellness” concept in exchange with focal points from other GIZ offices;
Implement activities on cross-cutting themes with internal and external impact (e.g. gender and human rights, health, disability and well-being, in close cooperation with programmes).
Qualifications, skills and experience required
Qualifications and skills
At least a Bac+4 degree in political science, social science, international management or communication;
Regional experience with GIZ desired, ideally in West Africa;
Good knowledge of common GIZ IT applications (DMS, MS Teams, Outlook, IDA)
Professional experience
At least five (5) years of professional experience in development cooperation;
At least 4 years of experience in project management;
At least 3 years of experience in the field of gender, knowledge management or communication;
Solid experience in consulting and support.
Other knowledge, additional skills
Knowledge of the French, German and English languages, at least at level B1, is required;
Pragmatic, efficient and well-structured working method;
High availability, flexibility and reliability;
High degree of personal responsibility and ability to develop process optimizations.
