Glenda Jackson received the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1970 for her outstanding performance in Ken Russell’s “Women In Love,” and three years later for “A Touch Of Class.”

Beyond her brilliant career in the arts, Glenda Jackson actively engaged in politics for a significant part of her life. She was elected as a Labour Member of Parliament for Hampstead and Highgate in 1992 under Tony Blair’s leadership, serving in a subordinate position in the Department of Transport until 1999.
However, her convictions eventually led her to adopt a critical stance within the Labour Party, frequently expressing disagreement with the political direction, particularly that of Margaret Thatcher, whom she accused of neglecting the working class.
Despite her strong involvement in national politics, which shaped her professional journey for several decades, Glenda Jackson continued to excel in her artistic career. This is evident through her remarkable performances, such as her portrayal in “Elizabeth Is Missing,” for which she received a prestigious BAFTA award.
