Here are the quarter-final posters

They were, for the first time in the history of the African Cup of Nations, 24 countries competing at the start of the 2019 edition, when it kicked off on June 21. They are only 8 left. The round of 16 ended on Monday, July 8, with the victory of the Ivory Coast against Mali (1-0) and with the victory of the Tunisia against Ghana (1-1, 5 TAB to 4).

The quarter-final posters are all known. The 8 survivors, namely in order of qualification Benin, Senegal, Nigeria, South Africa, Madagascar, Algeria, Ivory Coast and Tunisia, know what awaits them.

First of all, Senegal, winner of Uganda (1-0) with a Sadio Mané with two faces – that of scorer and new penalty curse -, will face one of the surprises of this CAN: Benin, which has just scalped Morocco (1-1, 4 TAB to 1).

Nigeria, who overcame Cameroon, fallen African champion, after an intense round of 16 (3-2), is faced with another surprise. In the round of 16, the Super Eagles will face South Africa, who narrowly survived the first round (last team among the best third) but who have just eliminated Egypt at home (1-0) .

Big shock at Suez between heavyweights surfing on very different dynamics. On the one hand, Côte d’Ivoire, qualified but once again uncomfortable in their round of 16 victory against Mali (1-0) thanks to the realism of Wilfried Zaha. On the other, Algeria, imperial against Guinea (3-0) as since the start of the CAN (four wins, no goals conceded).

Finally, the last quarter-final concerns the attraction of the competition: Madagascar, which is playing its first CAN. The Barea have already managed three big performances, first qualifying for the final phase, finishing top of group B in the first round then, and finally eliminating the DRC in the round of 16 (1-1, 4 TAB to 2). Faced with the men of Nicolas Dupuis, the Tunisian Carthage Eagles will present themselves, who tamed the Black Stars of Ghana at the end of the suspense (1-1, 5 TAB to 4).
