Igor Tudor Announces Departure from OM, Club Begins Search for New Coach

It’s already the end of the story between Igor Tudor and OM. Indeed, Igor Tudor announced his departure to his players on Thursday and will lead his last match as the head coach of the Olympique Marseille on Saturday in Ajaccio.

Arriving last summer, Igor Tudor succeeded Jorge Sampaoli. Unfortunately, his adventure with the Olympique Marseille, which finished in third position in Ligue 1, comes to an end even though he still had one year left on his contract.

Why did Igor Tudor decide to leave OM ?

This departure is not really a surprise. It has been looming over the city of Marseille for several days. The final details of this early divorce were settled on Wednesday during a meeting between his agent and Marseille executives, who were actually satisfied with his work but accepted his resignation.

Igor Tudor made this decision because he never really felt accepted by the Marseille supporters. Although the relationship improved over the season, he was still marked by the jeers he received in the early days of the championship.

But most importantly, the former defender is said to have a strong desire to return to Italy, where Juventus Turin has reportedly made him a priority to replace the departing Massimiliano Allegri. With his departure finalized, OM will now have to embark on a new search for a new coach. And the task ahead is not expected to be easy.
