The one-year-old baby, transported in emergency after being forgotten on Sunday by his parents in their car near Pithiviers (Loiret) by an outside temperature exceeding 30°C, died, announced Wednesday the public prosecutor of Orleans . “The baby died last night, in the evening, at the CHR d’Orléans”, announced the prosecutor Nicolas Bessone.
At his request, an autopsy of the child’s body will be performed on Friday in Tours, said the magistrate. “The procedure will depend on this autopsy,” added Mr. Bessone. The baby had been forgotten for more than two hours Sunday in the middle of the day by his parents, in front of the family home, in Gaubertin. Suffering from severe dehydration, the child was rushed to Orleans hospital with a vital prognosis.
Placed in police custody, the parents had been released to allow them to go to the bedside of the child. According to the prosecutor, they were “integrated people, who are not known to social services”. An investigation on the count of “unintentional injuries” had been opened. According to La République du Centre, the parents were returning from their shopping when they forgot the child in the vehicle. It was the grandparents who discovered it when they arrived home.
