Launched in 2016 in the same wake as Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite has not had the same success as its basic application. However, it helped many users who will be forced to do without it by September 18, 2023.
Messenger Lite was originally developed for low performance smartphones. In particular, the application could run without slowing down the phone and it was less data-intensive. To achieve this result, many features have therefore been abandoned in favor of the essentials. Users were able to trade mostly through basic options.
But Messenger Lite was perhaps the application of too much, because Facebook Lite already offered a tab dedicated to messages. Although this space had disappeared for a while to promote the late Messenger Lite, things had quickly returned to normal. This is perhaps the reason that pushes the parent company Meta to sign the death warrant of Messenger Lite.

Indeed, the application is no longer available on Play Store. And for users who still have it on their phones, an alert is sent to them when the app opens. They are told in particular that Messenger Lite will no longer be operational from September 18. Additionally, the message recommends the user to try Facebook Lite instead. If you are a Messenger Lite user, you should therefore take the necessary measures so as not to be surprised.
You can actually switch to Facebook Lite which already has a Messages tab. However, you also have the option of downloading the classic Messenger application if your smartphone’s resources allow it. It should be noted that this will give you the full experience as thought by Meta. You can also benefit from end-to-end encryption for your messages, especially since this feature will be available by default before the end of the year.
