Jumia employees on strike

Employees of JUMIA, the online sales company, have been on strike since Tuesday, July 9, 2019, to denounce mistreatment by their employer by demanding a salary increase, according to the cell communication and media site .

Jumia employees located in Koumassi (Abidjan) as well as in all JUMIA agencies throughout the country are on strike to demand higher wages and better working conditions.

This comes “After several attempts at negotiations and denunciation with the administration of Jumia following difficult work situations, daily humiliations, non-respect of our fundamental rights, insignificant salaries for some”, explained a protester to the media.

JUMIA Africa is an online sales platform which made a turnover of 332 billion CFA francs in 2017 with an annual growth of 94%.
