In France, the verdict in the Bernard Tapie affair has fallen. The former president of Olympique de Marseille was released on Tuesday morning.
The wait will have lasted more than two decades. And we had to wait until 10 a.m. on Tuesday July 9 to know the outcome of the trial involving Bernard Tapie and Crédit Lyonnais.
The former boss of Adidas and Olympique de Marseille languished in jail for fraud and embezzlement of public funds. He was released on Tuesday by the Paris Criminal Court, ten years after the controversial arbitration awarding 403 million euros to the businessman to settle his old dispute with Crédit Lyonnais, reports several media.
Like him, Stéphane Richard, CEO of Orange, and Maurice Lantourne, Tapie’s lawyer, were also released for the same facts.
for justice, there is nothing against Bernard Tapie!
For justice, there is nothing in the file to confirm that Bernard Tapie is guilty of the charges against him.
However, a five-year prison sentence was required against the 76-year-old man last April. The prosecution accused him of having rigged the arbitration which allowed him to receive the staggering sum of 45 million euros, nearly 30 billion FCFA in July 2008, during the resale of Adidas.
This decision, variously interpreted by the French press, comes as Bernard Tapie relives the recurrence of a double cancer of the esophagus and stomach.
