Nigerian billionaires, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola, have pledged $75,000 to their national team, the Super Eagles, for every goal scored in recent matches of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Dangote pledged $50,000 per goal while Otedola pledged $25,000 for each goal the Super Eagles scored.
Earlier in the AFCON 2019 group stage, Aiteo Group, one of the official sponsors of the senior men’s national team, donated $75,000 to the Super Eagles for the three goals scored in their 3-2 win over in Cameroon in the round of 16.
Hosea Wells Okunbo, a businessman, also pledged $20,000 per player, while Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, rewarded the team with $5,000 per player.
Gernot Rohr’s men beat South Africa’s Bafana Bafana 2-1 to advance to the semi-finals on Wednesday night at Cairo International Stadium.
The Super Eagles will face Algeria in the semi-final.
Femi Otedola recently donated $50,000 to former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu in need of medical attention.
