Pentagon Dismisses Surface-to-Air Missile Theory

Speculation around the crash of the plane carrying Yevgeny Prigojine are gaining momentum, but light has now been shed by the Pentagon on the hypothesis of a surface-to-air missile. US Army spokesman Pat Ryder said reports suggesting such involvement were “inaccurate”.

While the exact circumstances remain unclear, the United States believes Prigozhin’s death is likely, based on a variety of factors.

Discarded theories

The idea that a surface-to-air missile shot down Prigojine’s plane was dismissed by the Pentagon. Pat Ryder categorically denied any involvement of this weapon in the crash, stating that the information about it was incorrect. The US military, while admitting that it was unable to provide details on the exact causes of the crash, dismissed this hypothesis.

Although the circumstances of the tragedy remain unclear, the Pentagon has stressed that the United States considers the death of Yevgeny Prigojine probable. Based on a combination of factors, this estimate suggests that the leader of the Wagner group would have lost his life in the crash. None of the passengers survived, but Russian authorities have yet to formally confirm Prigozhin’s death.

Complex past of Prigozhin

Vladimir Putin referred to the “complicated fate” of his ex-ally, Prigozhin, when questioned on the subject. The relationship between the two men had been marked by twists and intriguing developments. However, Prigozhin’s tragic demise raised questions about the future of his empire and the activities of the Wagner Group.
