Ivorian music is once again in mourning. Larry Cheick, one of its oldest ambassadors died on Friday after several days of hospitalization.
We will not see Larry Cheick again on the Ivorian stages, even less in the recording studios. The artist, who had been hospitalized for several days at the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Cocody, in Abidjan, died on Friday July 5. In 2016, the artist had his leg amputated, following a cancer that he dragged on for a long time.

At the University Hospital of Cocody, where he was receiving treatment, the author of the successful title in the 90s “Feriman”, was plunged into a coma for a few days. His death occurred when he had just come out of his lethargy and had begun to give hope to his loved ones.
Back in Abidjan to continue his rehabilitation started in France, thanks in particular to Alpha Blondy, Diabaté Seydou put away the microphone forever. His disappearance is a great loss for Ivorian music, particularly reggae. Larry Cheick had about ten albums to his credit, including “Sarajevo crime” in 1984, “Penal code” in 1993, “Djandjou Star”, “the 10 commandments of God” in 1994, and “trial” in 2002.
