Solidarités International (SI) recruits 01 Logistics Assistant Intern

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for more than 38 years, has been helping populations who are victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs, food, drink and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases related to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion hygiene but also in that, essential, of food security and means of existence. Present in around twenty countries, the SI teams – 2,000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – operate with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Assist the association’s logistics director in conducting the logistics strategy, in conjunction with the IT and information system department, the purchasing and supply department, the general services, and the operational logistics department.
Main objectives of the internship:
– Know the different programs and areas of expertise of Solidarités International
– Understand the functioning of the headquarters of a humanitarian NGO and the links between the headquarters and the field
– Know the different fields of intervention of humanitarian logistics
– Develop skills in the analysis of logistics indicators
– Master the internal procedures of Solidarités International and the procedures of the main donors of humanitarian aid
– Ensure the link and the circulation of information within the logistics department
Main tasks :
– Ensure the compilation of logistics indicators and prepare elements for analysis and decision support
– Ensure the organization of the emergency telephone on-call schedule
– Provide support to the director and managers of the logistics department in monitoring action plans and setting up dashboards
– Participate in meetings of the logistics department and take note of them
– Ensure the updating of logistical tools intended for headquarters or the field in the technical fields (electricity, mechanics, fleet management, etc.)
– Prepare summary documents for the field in French and English (Tutorials, Memos, Updates)
– Participate in the organization and coordination of logistical events
– Occasionally, provide support
– to the purchasing and supply department in the processing of Paris purchasing files for the Field, on shipments, receptions, warehouse management
– to the IT and Information System department on the preparation of equipment for the field to the desk teams for the processing of field purchasing files
– to general services on all current tasks
– On request, ensure the reception of the headquarters of Solidarités International (telephone and face-to-face)
Contribution of the internship:
– Discovery of the functioning of the headquarters of an NGO as well as the relations between the headquarters and the field
– Knowledge of the different professions of Solidarités International at headquarters and in the field
– Understanding of the functioning of humanitarian missions and their specific constraints
– Knowledge of the procedures of Solidarités International and the main donors
– Discovery of the development and implementation of the strategy and programming of an NGO and its logistics department
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL undertakes to offer the trainee a variety of tasks as well as internal training in preparation for departure allowing him to usefully reinforce his training/experience with a view to a future humanitarian commitment. This internship is an opportunity to understand in depth the functioning of a humanitarian NGO, its constraints and the different approaches.
– Bac +2 to 5 level training, preferably oriented towards humanitarian project management, supply chain logistics or technical logistics
– IT: Good command of the tools of the Office Pack essential (especially Excel), knowledge of Power BI is a plus
– International work experience appreciated
– Writing skills
– Real interest and motivation for associations and humanitarian work – Willingness to go into the field
– Appetite for data processing and analysis
– Critical and analytical mind.
– Adaptability, autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, organization, efficiency, significant work capacity
– Fluent English
Duration :
6 months, to be filled from July 22, 2019
- Trainee with mandatory internship agreement.
- Legal bonus of 15% of the hourly social security ceiling in force.
- The bonus is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of attendance over the month. (On average 1 month = 154h, i.e. 22 days of 7h/day)
- Public transport 50% covered by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
- Meal vouchers at €8.90 / actual day of internship, with SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL’s participation at 60%
