Swimming Accident at Lake Zug: Prompt Action by Bathers Saves Six-Year-Old Girl



On Sunday, just before 4 p.m., a swimming accident occurred on Lake Zug near Oberwil. Bathers discovered a motionless six-year-old girl floating on the lakeshore. They immediately pulled her out of the water, initiated resuscitation efforts, and alerted emergency services.

Rescuers arrived at the scene one minute after the emergency call and provided medical care to the child. “Thanks to the quick response of the bathers and the prompt arrival of medical assistance, the six-year-old girl started breathing on her own within a short period,” stated the Zug cantonal police in a press release. She was transported to the hospital by Rega, the Swiss air rescue service.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the swimming accident.
