THE BANK :

Created in 1964, the African Development Bank is the first pan-African development institution. Its mission is to promote economic growth and social progress across the continent. The Bank has 80 member countries, including 54 African countries (the regional member countries). The Bank’s development program aims to provide financial and technical support to transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Africa. To better focus on the objectives of the Ten Year Strategy (2013-2022) and achieve greater impact on development, five main areas (the Big Five Priorities – Top 5) in which interventions will need to be intensified for Africa were defined, namely: energy, agro-industry, industrialization, integration and improvement of the quality of life of African populations.

THE COMPLEX :

The Bank has reorganized and is establishing the Regional Development, Integration and Service Delivery Complex, the main objective of which is to strengthen regional capacities and bring responsibility for client activities closer to the regions. Five regional development, integration and service delivery platforms have been created, each headed by a Director General. These are the platforms for Southern Africa, North Africa, West Africa, East Africa and Central Africa.

THE NATIONAL DEPARTMENT/OFFICE THAT IS RECRUITING:

The different National Offices report to one of the five (5) regional development, integration and service delivery platforms. The Platform oversees a range of national and liaison offices, as well as countries without field offices.

Reporting to the North Branch, the Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania and Morocco Country Offices of the African Development Bank were established to strengthen strategic dialogue between the Bank, governments and other stakeholders and improve the performance of the project portfolio and the coordination of aid with other development partners.

THE POST :

The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services for the benefit of the Country Manager and performs office courier duties.

This position, based in Algeria, does not entitle you to the conditions of employment relating to international status.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Country Manager, the incumbent will assume the following functions:

Lead the Country Manager, members of missions visiting the National Office and official delegations from the national office on mission;

Contribute to the smooth running of Office activities, when required;

Ensure daily maintenance of the vehicle assigned to him (checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.);

Carry out small repairs and ensure that major repairs are brought to the attention of the Country Representative and monitor their execution;

Perform office courier tasks;

Give a good image of the Bank through professional appearance and conduct at all times;

Ensure ownership of vehicles, keep records of official travel, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, lubrication, etc.;

Ensure that the formalities provided for in the regulatory provisions are completed in the event of an accident;

Carry out any other tasks requested by the Country Manager.

Selection criteria

Hold at least a Baccalaureate diploma (BAC);

Hold a valid driver’s license with good driving history

Possess any additional document and/or certification to perform the function will be an additional asset

At least three (3) years of relevant experience as a driver in an international/multinational institution or public or private sector organization

Experience and skills in small repairs and regular vehicle maintenance

A working knowledge of the rules and regulations to be observed for the safe and efficient operation of automotive equipment;

Proven spirit of initiative, discreet, honest and of good morality;

Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills;

Good written and oral communication skills in French or English; a working knowledge of the other language will be an additional advantage;

Skilled in using common Microsoft software such as Word and the Internet.
