Presentation of the Red Cross
The French Red Cross is both an association under the 1901 law recognized as being of public utility of 57,000 volunteers who have been involved for more than 150 years on many fronts in the fight against insecurity, and a non-profit service company in the health, social, medico-social and training fields with 18,000 employees in more than 600 establishments.
The French Red Cross, an association present throughout France, is driven by the commitment of its members and volunteers. This acts on 6 main areas:
-The emergency
-First aid
-International solidarity
-Health and autonomy
-Training
-Social action
At the heart of societal challenges, on various issues (health, mobility, prison, digital inclusion, etc.) and in response to the needs of the most vulnerable populations, the French Red Cross is developing new projects and working on innovative solutions.
By joining us, you will share our commitment and ethics and develop your skills.
Missions
The volunteer will be welcomed into a team made up of volunteers and salaried research managers, for a statutory mission of the Red Cross, consisting of restoring family ties to displaced persons.
The Restoration of Family Ties (RLF) has set up an itinerant system throughout the Hauts-de-France region, mobilized from the various camps in the region (Grande-Synthe, Calais, Saint-Omer, Tatinghem, Norrent-Fontes , Steenvoord…), with travel to be planned in other metropolitan areas. This merged with the Mobile Emergency Device (DMU) to form the Mobile Support System for Exiles (DMSE).
The challenges are an integrated response (care and RFL) to the needs of exiles in a migration context. The activity, piloted from Lille, also aims to empower local units of the Red Cross in the implementation of mobile RFL/care activities in Hauts de France. Most of the missions will take place in the Calais region.
The volunteer will thus have the missions of:
• Participate in team marauding on the living places of exiles, and in this context participate in the prevention of the breakdown of family ties by raising awareness of the RFL mission of the Red Cross and by disseminating messages to exiles ;
• Participate in the reception and orientation of beneficiaries during the deployment of family link maintenance points (phone point, internet point);
• Inform applicants about the eligibility and feasibility criteria for requests received for restoration of family links;
• Participate, under the responsibility of a trained person, in interviews with applicants and complete the appropriate forms;
• Inform wanted persons of the possible choices and obtain their informed consent;
• Maintain contact with applicants throughout the procedure and inform them about the progress of their RLF application;
• Contribute to the creation and updating of means of action tools (list of associative and territorial partners, contact follow-up, etc.);
• Ensure the dissemination/promotion of RLF activities is carried out using the tools available internally.
The activities can be scalable and enriched at the initiative of the volunteer during his journey and in agreement with the host structure, as part of his project or a personal initiative. He will benefit from training and individualized tutored support to carry out his mission.
