As a hairdresser, I have the chance to interact with a multitude of clients every day. Most of them are absolutely charming and pleasant to deal with, but there are some notable exceptions. Over the years, I’ve accumulated testimonials not only of my clients’ frustrating habits, but also those that are downright disgusting. In this article, I decided to share with you some of these unfortunate experiences.
First, there are those customers who seem to completely ignore basic hair etiquette. It’s perfectly fine to make an appointment with a hairstylist if you want a new look, but not worrying about a few extra hairs on your head when visiting is just plain gross. I’ve had several clients come in with hair full of hair product residue or even food. Not only does this make the job more difficult for me, but it also shows a clear disrespect for me and my workspace.
Another disgusting aspect is personal hygiene. I’ve had several clients come in with greasy or smelly hair. I understand that everyone can have a bad day in terms of cleanliness, but it is really difficult to work in such conditions. Besides, it can also be quite embarrassing for the customers themselves, as it shows a lack of attention to their own appearance. It is important to remember that hairdressers are professionals and deserve to be treated with respect, just as clients expect to be treated with respect.
Then there are those who are just plain rude and disrespectful. Customers talking on the phone while I’m working are particularly annoying. Not only does this distract me, but it also shows a flagrant lack of regard for my work and the work of other hairdressers around me. Also, it’s very unpleasant trying to hold a conversation with someone who’s more interested in their phone than the haircut they’re getting.
Finally, there are those customers who seek to negotiate prices or request free services. While I understand that money can be an issue for some people, trying to haggle over the price of a hairstylist’s job is just plain disrespectful. We work hard to master our craft and deserve to be compensated fairly. Moreover, asking for free services is simply rude, as it implies that our work is worthless.
In conclusion, as a hairdresser, I found myself faced with certain habits of my clients that were both loathsome and disgusting. It is important to remember that hairdressers are professionals who deserve to be treated with respect and consideration. By adopting clean habits, being polite, and acknowledging the value of a hairdresser’s work, we can all help make the hair salon experience enjoyable for everyone.
