Africa has been the scene of a series of military coups since 2020, plunging many countries on the continent into political instability. According to French experts who spoke on the TLR TV media, this wave of state putsches may not be over.
The wave of coups in Africa

According to French experts, these putsches reflect a larger struggle for influence between the West and Russia in Africa. They point out that the rise of “anti-French sentiment” on the continent has opened the door to Russian influence. This geopolitical rivalry further complicates the situation in Africa and makes it difficult to predict future developments.
Expert concerns
French experts on TLR TV warn of the possibility that other African countries experience coups in the future. They cite several examples, including Cameroon led by Paul Biya, Congo Brazzaville under Sassou Nguesso, Chad which could relapse into instability, and Côte d’Ivoire, where President Alassane Ouattara faces criticism for his controversial third term.
