LEAP Coordinator (Women’s Leadership, Empowerment and Access to Protection Services Program based in Gao).

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works to eliminate discrimination against women and girls, empower women and achieve equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, peace and security.

In order to contribute to the reduction of gender inequalities and strengthen the empowerment of women, UN Women has developed a country program supported by several financial partners. This program has been running since 2017 for a period of five years. It contributes to the implementation of plans for a return to peace and development in Mali, including: the Strategic Framework for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development of May (CREDD 2016-2018); the United Nations Integrated Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF+ 2015-2019); the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the UN Resolution 1325 National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security; and the UN Secretary-General’s 7-Point Plan of Action on Women’s Participation in Peacebuilding.

The Country Programs are delivered through components declined in the form of Flagships (Flagship Programs) including in occurrences here the Flagship Governance; and the Women’s Economic Empowerment Flagship

These Flagships substantially contribute to the fulfillment of UN Women’s mandate in Mali by significantly strengthening their status.
