United States : Shooting kills 2 at graduation ceremony



A new gun-related tragedy recently occurred in the United States. At the end of a graduation ceremony held at Huguenot High School, located near Washington, D.C., and hosted in a nearby theater, a shooting took place on Tuesday evening, resulting in two deaths and five injuries. A 19-year-old suspect has been apprehended by authorities.

Among the victims are an 18-year-old student and a 36-year-old adult. The critical condition of one of the injured individuals has also been reported. According to local police, the alleged perpetrator may have known at least one of the victims involved in this targeted attack, although the motive has not yet been determined.

Mayor Levar Stoney expressed his outrage at this latest act of violence, stating, “Is there nothing left that we consider sacred?” He further affirmed that justice would be served to honor the memory of the victims and the American people as a whole.

It is worth noting that, within just seven months since the beginning of 2021, there have already been 279 officially classified “mass shootings” across the United States.
