Context Application for admission to the UdeM exemption scholarships

Support the best international talents in their study project.

The UdeM exemption scholarship program aims to support international candidates in their university study project. As of fall 2020, they could benefit from an exemption applied to the tuition fees normally charged to international students. The awarding of scholarships continues for the Winter 2023, Summer 2023, Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms.

The objective of this new program is to allow the greatest talents from all countries to integrate one of the best French-speaking research universities in the world, thus contributing to the updating of our educational mission and to the cultural diversity of our community, an asset for the University of Montreal.

Who is this Application for Admission to UdeM Exemption Scholarships program for?

The additional tuition fee exemption scholarship program is intended for international students (French and French-speaking Belgians excluded). To be eligible, the candidate must:

have received an offer of admission to a study program offered at UdeM as of fall 2020;

hold valid study authorizations (CAQ and study permit) for all terms of their study program. For more information, please consult the web page on administrative and immigration procedures;

be registered full-time for their entire study program, without interruption (unless authorized absence);

not benefit from another form of exemption applicable to tuition fees;

not be enrolled in a free study program.

If one of the above conditions is not met, the UdeM exemption scholarship may be withdrawn from the file.

Value of Application for admission to UdeM exemption scholarships

Note that the amounts indicated below are in Canadian dollars.

Undergraduate programs

The excellence of your academic record is the only evaluation criterion to determine the value of the scholarship. This evaluation is made on the basis of the transcripts provided when applying for admission. The results of the analysis are classified according to the following three levels.

Tier A: $13,340.40 per year (2 terms – equivalent to 30 credits), i.e. $6,670.20 per term (15 credits) or $444.68 per credit

Tier B: $6,357.60 per year (2 terms – equivalent to 30 credits), i.e. $3,178.80 per term (15 credits) or $211.92 per credit

Tier C: $2,223.90 per year (2 terms – equivalent to 30 credits), i.e. $1,111.95 per term (15 credits) or $74.13 per credit

Students enrolled in a certificate, major, minor, microprogram, refresher and pre-university year program automatically obtain the Tier C scholarship.

These amounts are applied to tuition fees of $27,101.70 per year (30 credits)*.

Master’s programs

To support you in your higher education project as an international student, a scholarship for exemption from the additional tuition fees normally charged to international students is offered to you.

Research: $10,347.75 per year (3 terms – equivalent to 45 credits), i.e. $3,449.25 per term (equivalent to 15 credits) or $229.95 per credit

This amount is applied to tuition fees of $29,592 per year (45 credits)*.

Excluding research: $10,474.65 per year (3 terms – equivalent to 45 credits), i.e. $3,491.55 per term (equivalent to 15 credits) or $232.77 per credit

This amount is applied to tuition fees of $30,829.50 per year (45 credits)*.

For the writing and correction terms, the same tuition fees as those required of Quebec students will be applied.

Postgraduate programs

To support you in your higher education project as an international student, a scholarship for exemption from the additional tuition fees normally charged to international students is offered to you.

This exemption grant allows you to benefit from the same tuition fees as Quebec students in postgraduate university education.

$22,241.25 per year (3 terms – equivalent to 45 credits), i.e. $7,413.75 per term (equivalent to 15 credits) or $494.25 per credit

This amount is applied to tuition fees of $26,562.60 per year (45 credits)*.

For the writing and correction terms, the same tuition fees as those required of Quebec students will be applied.
